Join us for a hike through the chalk grasslands, downs, valleys, and ancient woodlands of the South London Downs. Take in the stunning views of Riddlesdown Common, Happy Valley, and Farthing Downs, this wonderful area has recently become a National Nature Reserve, much of which sits in the borough of Croydon. We’ll see an array of wildlife that thrive in these rare chalk grassland habitats. We’ll have a rest break at a beautiful country pub.
A good level of fitness is needed to join this walk. The total walk will take approximately 4.5 hours plus a 30-minute break at a pub. This route includes some steep inclines as it cuts across valleys. It is not suitable for someone with mobility issues.
Please wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend bringing 1ltr of water and a packed lunch with you.
