Festival Terms and Conditions

Wild in the City Festival

Please inform all participants booked onto the event via your booking of the following;

All tickets must be bought in advance. No tickets will be sold on the day.

Safety

Natural settings and woodland have some levels of hazard which we can’t remove.

Outdoor settings have natural trip hazards (tree roots etc) and eye level flora such as hanging branches. Some flora have thorns which can scratch. If the weather has been wet then the terrain may be slippery or water logged. You may come into contact with wildlife, including biting insects, bring any precautions such as insect repellent with you.

Visibility is reduced at night time, attendees are advised to bring a head torch.

Take care around the campfire, please don’t wear highly flammable clothing such as shell suit type material. Scarves and long hair should be tied back.

Parents/Guardians are responsible for the safety and well-being of children attending with them during the event. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that the children attending with them follow guidance and to ensure that their children do not start activities until guidance has been given and interact with wildlife safely.

Bushcraft workshops

Some activities may include the use of tools such as mallets, knives, saws and flint and steels, facilitators will give instruction on how to use them safely. The workshop may involve activities using natural materials such as nettles, sticks, mud and rocks.

Walks

You agree that you are appropriate fitness for the walk length of approximately 2 hours in open countryside with some hills, and will carry any necessary personal medication.

Clothing and welfare

The festival will be held entirely outdoors and will go ahead whatever the weather except storms, ongoing heavy rain and high winds, nature and all that she brings will be part of the experience.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and to be comfortable throughout the weekend. Please be aware that being seated for longer periods and being under a wooded canopy may mean you feel cooler than you would generally being outdoors. We suggest layered clothing for warmth and bringing waterproof clothing and sturdy waterproof footwear.

Toilets and showers

There are male and female flush toilets on site. There are no showers (except for dorm ticket holders).

Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is recognised as an increasing problem in the UK. Lyme disease is a bacterial disease spread by tick bites.  Ticks are more prevalent in areas with large mammals such as deer. There are Roe deer present in the Festival woodland. Not all ticks carry lyme and this area is not considered to be high risk for Lyme Disease. However care should be taken.
Lyme Disease can be mitgated by using insect repellent (we recommend Ultrathon Insect Repellent by 3M) and the prompt and safe removal of ticks. Risk is reduced if the tick is removed within 24 hours. This can be done at home with tick tweezers or visit the nurse at your GP surgery. Further information can be found on the NHS website http://www.nhs.uk/Con…

First Aid Kit

The Festival will be supported by designated Outdoor First Aid respondents, including your walk leaders, headed by our lead instructor who has an Advanced Wilderness First Aid certificate who will be made known to you when you arrive at the Festival. Please report any injuries to a designated first aider.  We recommend bringing your own personal first aid kit to attend to cuts and scrapes which can happen when handing natural materials and in the woodland. You should also bring any personal medication eg asthma inhaler, epi-pen.

If you require insurance to participate in outdoor walks and events, you must make your own arrangements to ensure adequate cover.
