DESCRIPTION:Harlington Circular: Sharpenhoe Clappers & Sundon Hills \n \nDistance: 15 km/ 9.3 miles approx \nStart / End: Harlington Railway Station (Thameslink) \nMeeting 10:15am to start promptly at 10:30am\, finishing around 5:00pm \nTerrain & Difficulty: Moderate – challenging. Features repeated ascents and descents up and down the Bedfordshire chalk escarpment\, woodland single-track\, and ridge paths. \nJoin us on a late-summer hike across the Bedfordshire escarpment (a giant natural step in the countryside)\, contemplating harvest bounty and the coming Autumn Equinox a seasonal threshold when day and night will be equal in length. We’ll follow the footsteps of preacher John Bunyan along chalk ridges\, ancient beech woods\, and golden fields\, tracing the hills that inspired his most famous work The Pilgrim’s Progress. What balance of light and dark will we find along this historic path? \nPlease dress appropriately and wear sturdy footwear; this hilly route requires good fitness. Bring 1-2L of water and a packed lunch.
