Wandle Fortnight – Traditional Crafts

Wild in the City will be taking part in Wandle Fortnight (10th -25th September 2016) celebrating the River Wandle.

Bring a picnic and join us in Wandle Park on Saturday 18th for a day of fun learning traditional skills for creating useful products and art work from natural materials gathered from the riverside.

We will be running workshops for children and adults on crafts including coil basketry, nettle cordage, whittling, bead making and nature based art. Places on the basketry, cordage and whittling workshops are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. The event runs from 11am-2.30pm, meeting at the bandstand.

Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children attending with them throughout the event.

We would like to take photographs and video of the day for use online and in printed materials, please let us know on the day if you would prefer not to appear in them.

This event is supported by the Wandle Valley Forum, Living Wandle Landscape Partnership and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
