8th July 2017, 10.30am – 4.00pm
Join us for a day in the woods and learn how to light fires without matches or lighters, using friction techniques.
We will start by using fire steels to ignite a range of different tinders which we will source from the woodland.
You will also construct a bow drill set, learning how to identify and select the best woods for the component parts from the woodland.
This will be a fun and informative workshop giving you a core bushcraft skill to help you live comfortably in the outdoors, come prepared to use a little elbow grease!
Please bring a packed lunch and cup for refreshments.
This workshop is aimed at adults, children over 14 will be welcome if accompanied by a fee paying adult.
Our fire lighting workshop will run from 10.30am to 4.00pm at South Norwood Lake Grounds, SE19 2DH.
We’ll be based in a beautiful semi ancient oak woodland which used to form part of the Great Northwood.
Held around the campfire at our friendly base camp in the woods, we’ll help you to tune out of the stresses of urban life and tune into the peaceful and rejuvinating powers of nature.
