Join us a for a workshop by the campfire learning to make coil baskets from grasses.

Coil Baskets.Camberwell wheat.We’ll be based in a secret pocket of ancient woodland in South London which formed part of the Great North wood.

Coil baskets are a great universal, most world cultures have a tradition of coil basketry. This day long workshop will cover the cultural history of these baskets, their uses, how to select materials for making them, techniques for starting off, coiling and finishing off the baskets. Harvest your own materials and enjoy a relaxed day by the fire. Your basket will be perfect for foraged finds or to bring the outdoors into your home decoration.

Bring a packed lunch, tea and biscuits will be provided.

The coil basketry workshop will take place at South Norwood Lake Grounds, SE19 2DH.

We’ll be based in a beautiful semi ancient oak woodland which used to form part of the Great Northwood.

Held around the campfire at our friendly base camp in the woods, we’ll help you to tune out of the stresses of urban life and tune into the peaceful and rejuvinating powers of nature.
