Volunteers from the Friends of Love Lane Green in South Norwood have turned some scrub land at the end of their road into a beautiful community garden. Using fly tipped tyres as planters they have planted 600 crocuses donated by Croydon Saffron Central as well as strawberries and hazel trees. The garden creates a safe place for children to play and residents to gather. A perfect setting for the Love Lane Big Lunch on Sunday 12th June, despite a damp start the rain receded and local residents enjoyed a sunny fun filled afternoon. Beth ran Wildcraft sessions with the children, picking wild flowers from the garden to make prints and adult’s learned how to twist nettle fibres into string. Love Lane’s garden is a wonderful green space bringing the community together for play, learning and connection.
